Aged Edam is often eaten with traditional “cheese fruits” like pears and apples. Like most cheeses, it is commonly eaten on crackers and bread, and may be eaten with crackers following the main course of a meal as a dessert of “cheese and biscuits”.
Edam is a sweet-curd cheese, packaging in a wax ball shape and made from part semi-skimmed milk. It differs from gouda in being a lighter, milder and tarter cheese. Edam has a fresh, mild and pure taste with a light ivory colour to it and is good for slicing.
